Legal Counsel
We’re looking for an experienced Legal Counsel to be an integral member of the Zepto team, to assist in providing internal legal services that support business growth. This newly created wide ranging in-house role will support our Head of Legal and Compliance.
ABOUT THE ROLE - LEGAL COUNSEL
We’re looking for an experienced Legal Counsel to be an integral member of the Zepto team, to assist in providing internal legal services that support business growth. This newly created wide ranging in-house role will support our Head of Legal and Compliance.
You have experience working in a fast paced business where you provide high quality legal advice, with your initial focus being on commercial contracts. You will be familiar with the payments industry and can confidently demonstrate your expertise to support financial service product development, distribution and disclosures.
Focus areas
- Contract drafting, negotiations and legal advisory in relation to a wide range of business transactions, including customer contracts, distribution arrangements and supplier contracts.
- Provide legal advisory including coverage of:
- Retail and wholesale financial service regulatory requirements.
- Prepare, advise and review of financial service disclosure documents.
- Advise and review of external facing materials.
- Provide legal support to major projects and other corporate matters.
- Provide legal advice in relation to disputes and litigated matters..
- Design and provide training to internal stakeholders on legal issues.
- Assist with design, implementation and maintenance of legal policies and procedures.
- Assist with legal team operations and projects.
About you
You are a highly motivated lawyer who thrives in a busy, high-volume, competitive commercial market where priorities often change. You are comfortable picking up something and running with it, while having the awareness to escalate matters as appropriate. You proactively keep abreast of legislative and regulatory change and can advise on the impact of change to the business. You must have tertiary qualifications in law and hold a current practising certificate in NSW or another Australian State or Territory.
You will bring 5+ years of relevant post-admission legal experience to the team and demonstrate knowledge in legal and regulatory requirements applicable to the financial services industry in Australia. Your collaboration skills make you a valued member of the team and fundamentally a good colleague to work with.
